Arizona up in Balloons

Who doesn't like going on vacation? I mean it's one of the best parts of growing up, planning your own vacations and going to new places. However, I have done neither of these things, I am here in Arizona on the same "vacation" that I always go on. The best thing about this one is my version of vacationing is that I am here with my parents and they spoil me.

Take for instance my new iPad and Blackberry, I was talking at the dinner table how my "old" Q10 keeps powering down so my dad went ahead and ordered me a Q5 in pink off Amazon. I mean, someone give that man a medal! Another great thing I've exploited is my mother's knack for finding thrift shops and down here in Arizona there are shops every 10 yards (because we're in the States.) So I have spent a fair share of time and her money at the SOS, Sally Anne and Lutheran thrift shops pillaging the racks for jackets, skirts, tanks and my favorite; sleepwear. Check it out and we'll see you next year, same time, same place same thrifting!

Kensington

School, consulting new clients and work. I'm about ready to throw in the bone. I was in Kensington Market the day and took a bunch of photos. A few of them were taken because I liked the color combinations, others were taken because I love the market for its strange and incredible people.

These last few months have flown by. After my birthday I began school and I haven't calmed down since. Life is strange, from one day to the next you never know what will happen. The universe is the limit, who knows what will happen.

Shoes.com has just opened their first brick and mortar location on Queen St., just east of Spadina Ave.

I didn't realize it was an all black party and I showed up in mostly floral. I was greeted by two charming associates and handed champagne! I browsed through the various selections of Hardy, Richer Poorer, John Fluevog and Teva footwear.

The store concept is based on the premise of online and trunk show shopping. You are able to see and try on the shoe, then have it delivered to your house. The perfect shoe shopping for the whole family!

Just because it's couture, doesn't mean you shouldn't be comfortable. I have learned the hard way. Wearing stunning booties into the city then realizing only hours later that it was a poor decision.

Now with sneakers being the fashion

centrefold, I have discovered that looking great and having comfortable shoes doesn't need to be a guessing game.

Since the street style scene has become more than just the elite dressing to the nines, I have come to the conclusion that couture isn't just high priced clothing. It's about changing and rearranging "the status quo." When it comes to fashion it's always important to pay homage to what makes couture so divine; the uncomfortable heels that add pizazz to any outfit.

I remember buying all three of these pieces. The shirt is from Model Citizen and I'd been eyeing it all summer. Finally, I mustered up the courage to buy it and had cash in my wallet so Julian gave me a deal. It's one of my favourite pieces in my closet. The pants I purchased because I was looking for something "interesting." I find pants my most difficult purchase, they never fit right, my body shape isn't conducive to North American tailoring. These, on the other hand, fit like a glove, and I got them for $5.99 at the thrift shop! The shoes, again, from the thrift shop, but I got these on my 20th birthday. I used birthday money on a few items but these boots were my favourite purchase by far, I still have them.

The worst part of vacations are when they end. Yes, I'm coming home, but just in time to catch TOM*FW in Toronto! Yes, I'm excited, more so for the after parties, but nevertheless, the vacation is ending, I had an amazing time. Here are some pics of some fashion finds.

Its been a while since you've been in my closet, I'm so sorry.

There are always new things happening in my life. I've opened a new Instagram account for HisCollectionsTO, and now I've been getting ready for the new year, and trying to get in three square meals a day. Where does the time go?

I've decided to change things up, I've been wearing vibrant floral's, crazy patterns and frumpy jackets, but I've decided to tighten things up. For a while now, I've been wanting to reinvent my style, make things more exciting and carefree. I need to have versatility in my wardrobe and be able to easily dress myself without flustering over "how much colour is too much!"

Toronto is a crazy city and some people will take your "vibrancy" as cockiness, sometimes it is, other times it's simply an expression of ones mood. Whatever your reasoning, find inspiration from what makes you happiest.

I love colour. It's an addiction. For as long as I can remember I have been covered from head to toe in vivacious patterns, textures, and graphics. Remember when I bought my Jungle Jacket? That piece made me fall for the bright palettes I sport so often today. Since that purchase, I have dedicated myself to bringing my culture, personality and background into my wardrobe and my everyday life, and this photo series demonstrates it.

Standing on shaky ground

I was coming home from grabbing chips and beer and the Temptations' horn crawled its way through my headphones and soon I found myself dancing, beer in hand around my house. I don't know if you know, but I recently began taking classes at the local fashion school and wow! It's been a while since I've been in a class, it brings back memories! I was given a task, and that was to come up with some ideas for a final project, I've compiled a list, I'll share it with you when I'm ready. Until then, here are some photo's that I've taken, hopefully you haven't seen them already!

I had a lot of fun with this look. Bit sassy I may say, I feel naked, well I am naked. Remember when Rihanna wore that nude dress to the music awards or whatever, well, I'm doing the same thing, except I'm not wearing a thong under.

The nude dress I found while walking in Chinatown. I saw it in a shop window and thought that I might try it. It's a great slouchy for those days around the house, or can be sauced up for a night on the town.

The heels are a bit much, but whose counting, I love these puppies. I only wear them on occasion and find that no matter where I wear them, I always get complements.

Necklace is from Anice jewellery in Kensington Market and the dress/overcoat I purchased in a thrift shop in Parksville.

The whole outfit, I must say, is how do you say; Mother not approving!

Have you ever watched My Fair Lady? Do you remember when Audrey Hepburn walks down the stairs in her ball gown, her hair in a beautiful bun, and Rex Harrison looks at her as if she's the most beautiful woman in the world. Well, I feel that way, in this coat.

 It took me forever to make the decision to purchase the spring piece. One of the reasons it took so long is because it's girly, pink, and not vintage. It was purchased at Meg, a beautiful, ultra feminine boutique on Queen West. I put it on and felt at home, and then I hung it up, walked out of the boutique but couldn't stop thinking about it.

These photo's were taken about the same time last year. The air was sharp, my socks on, and my iPod blasting. I knocked through an entire Justin Timberlake album (I won't tell you which one) then moved on to some Toni Braxton, Brandy and LL Cool J to keep the energy high.

I wasn't thinking too much about what I was photographing, only when I arrived home did I realize I shot most of these photo's in monochrome. I wasn't bothered.

It's funny what your eye sees and what music will make you conscious of. These photo's are all in the "upward" direction. My mother taught me, there is no point in having your head down, have your chin level with the floor and you'll never miss anything. This time I had my nose in the air and my head in the clouds.

Enjoy your day. Breathe deep, keep calm and be aware of others.

Be cool, don't jump to conclusion and enjoy the scenery around you; take your own photo's. You'd be amazed at what your eyes see, your heart tells you and where your headphones can take you.
