From Balmain to Belenciaga, the designers this season have taken fashion to uncontrollable heights. With the upcoming Olympics in London, the streetstyle has been taken to a whole new level. This seasons athletic inspired mesh tanks and tennis style skirts are all the rage. There was no particular order to the exquisite collections we saw on the runway. Each designer had something different in mind and this season’s runway was chock-full of color, style, and textures.

BLING

For those of you who enjoy bling and jewels, I have the perfect mix of designers for you. Usually Marc Jacobs does an elegant, well-refined collection, but this year he followed his heart and took the couture route. Ambiguous hats, ballin’ trench coats and paisley motifs were his theme. Dolce & Gabanna did what they do best and went all out when it came to sequins; each model was dressed from ear to toe in a vivacious creation. Lanvin kept their sleek lines and superb cuts and increased the noise by adding some bling to the collection. Everything from sequins to diamonds, each designer took a different spin on the word bedazzle.

 Crisp and Clean
For the more subdued woman, have no fear, the classic cuts, simple lines and relaxed fit ensembles were at their best. Alberta Ferretti designed a pantsuit ready for the adventurous office diva, as beautiful as it is; it’s impractical for the average housewife. Lagerfeld kept Chanel where it belongs; among the elite. His eggshell and pastel pallet is perfect for the fall and winter. The only problem is; if you get caught in a snowstorm, we won’t be able to find you. Stella McCartney made sure that the playful woman was able to come out. Her feminine collection took on a hint of masculinity with the high necklines and modest jackets. The perfect collections for the single woman, but perfectly impractical.

 Pretty and Proper
I, for one, am not a girly girl, but this season the powder pinks and fuchsias got their chance to shine. Dior’s dresses and Céline’s jackets were showstoppers. The super feminine material and empire waistlines caused the tomboy’s of the audience to gasp and gawk. What is fashion week without crazy couture? Alexander McQueen’s alien influenced collection was nothing short of perfection. I love Lollipops and rainbows and Thakoon gave us a taste of both with his sweetheart dresses and girly  gowns.

The runway was full of color, texture and charm from all over the world. Not only does the Olympics bring inspiration to designers it also brings inspiration to the world’s streetstyle. From ivory and pastels to fuchsia fur coats the runway was laden with Lanvin’s best and Burberry’s brightest. Each designer had something different in mind; the designers this season have taken fashion to uncontrollable heights.
