Vancouver Fashion Week

Last night was insane. The opening Gala was hosted by Opus Hotel in Yaletown Vancouver. The venu was small and tight for the amount of people that were there, but it was a lot of fun. After arriving I was rushed upstairs to start interviews with various designers.

Hurricana was my first interview. The designer Mariouche Gagne's had her model dressed in a stunning gown and hat to match. Each piece that will be showcasing was created using recycled high-quality appellar and furs. Over the years they have saved the lives of over 600,000 animals by reusing the furs and giving each piece a new life. I am very excited for Friday night when Hurricana graces Vancouver Fashion Week's catwalk. This season Hurricana paired up with jewellery designer Janet Theresa Miller. She is a Canadian designer with an eye for sophistication and glamour. Each of Janet Theresa's pieces will be accentuating a Hurricana garment. How exciting! This season Janet Teresa was inspired by "3 branches" and her collection embellish's that.

Erika Schade
Erika is a Vancouver jewellery designer who encompasses what Canadians stand for in design. She uses fallen porcupine coils and gives them a new life on her pendents and necklaces. She displays her collection in two stores; Dream on Granville island and Little Dream in Gastown. Unfortunately Erika will not be on the runway, but she will be showcasing during the week. Her collection this year is called Glacier, and yes the pieces are inspired by the arctic glaciers, each piece looks heavy and chunky but in fact are light and easy to wear. Her collection is chic and bold and encompasses the modern women to a tee. Erika recently showcased her collection at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion week in New York and also MasterCard Fashion week in Toronto.

JFG Designs
JFG designs for the modern fashion savvy women of Vancouver, the jewellery can be warn with any garment and therefore make the collection an instant success. Using Sawarski crystals and semi-precious stones, the collection shimmers and sparkles, brides turn to JFG to accentuate their gowns. Women all over the world flock to JFG to see the new collection. This season JFG partnered with Shelly Klassen from Blushing Boutique this season to make the runway shimmer and sparkle. We're very excited to see there collaboration on the runway.

I am very excited about today's fashion shows at the Chines Cultural Center in Tinseltown. Vancouver Fashion Week, let the fashion begin.
